Soulforce Remembers Ce Ce Dove During Transgender Awareness Week
This year during Transgender Awareness Week and the commemorations of Transgender Day of Remembrance, our thoughts are with our community in Cleveland, OH. This past March, CeCe (Dove) Acoff was murdered in Cleveland.
This Friday, November 22nd, will be Cleveland’s 10th vigil for Transgender Day of Remembrance. The event will be held at 5:30 pm at Cleveland City Hall, at 601 Lakeside Avenue. If you live in Ohio, please come out in support and invite a family member or friend to join you.
Soulforce’s work through the Delegate program in Ohio includes working with the Trans* community. Trans* & Faith Organizer Jacob Nash has been working with community members to organize vigils for Transgender Day of Remembrance for the past 15 years.
Jacob is also part of the video created by local Columbus filmmaker and activist, Rashida Davison for Transgender Awareness Week. The film is based on the poem “Not One More,” written by Erin Upchurch.
Please check out this video, (which features Jacob) and share this video for Transgender Awareness Week 2013, “Not One More” with a family member or friend.
