The Delegate Program has been our answer to more activist volunteer opportunities since 2009. We provide a space for political education and knowledge-sharing, and Delegates with passion and clear goals for their communities put it to work in their hometowns. So many wonderful, organic projects have grown out of this vessel, such as queer hip hop videos, workshops in racial justice for a grad school in Social Work, a queer presence at the largest Catholic youth gathering in the world, and more.
This program is evolving in two directions: 1) we are opening up more local opportunities to get involved in the Equality Ride Houses, and 2) we are booting up a Train the Trainers program. Both are open to people of all ages and interests who are committed to Soulforce’s approach to LGBTQ activism in religious context, minding that we must be layered and duly complex in our definition of what is an LGBTQ issue.
